What “full colour change” really means
There is a difference between resprayed-in-a-new-colour and a real colour change. We do the latter: door shuts, boot wells, engine bay (where appropriate) and any inner trim that ought to match — all carried into the new colour.
Typical projects
- Solid white to a custom metallic — most common request
- Repainting a wrap-removed car back to liquid paint in a new colour
- Restoring a classic to its original factory shade after years of repair work
- Dealer-style flip from a hard-to-sell colour to a market-friendly one
V5C paperwork
A colour change requires DVLA notification within 28 days. We supply a written colour-change confirmation letter at hand-back to support the V5C update.

Colour selection
We sample your shortlisted colours on a spare panel under matched lighting. You see the actual paint, not a printed swatch.
Strip-down
Bumpers, lights, badges, door cards and sometimes glass are removed so paint can reach every visible edge.
Cavity work
Door shuts, boot wells and the engine bay are masked, prepped and painted to match — no two-tone surprises later.
Booth phases
Multi-stage base coat and clear coat in a sealed environment. Pearls require an extra blend pass for uniformity.
Reassembly & QC
The car is rebuilt, panel-fit checked, and passed under colour-corrected lighting before any polish work.
Documentation
You receive a folder with paint codes, batch numbers and a DVLA confirmation letter for the V5C update.
About colour changes
How long is a typical colour change project?
Two to three working weeks. Strip-down and cavity prep account for the bulk of the time.
Will my insurance know it has been resprayed?
You will need to inform your insurer of the new colour. We provide written documentation supporting the change, which most insurers accept without amendment to the premium.
Can you replicate a colour from another make of car?
Almost always. We mix to a target paint code or to a physical sample using a spectrophotometer, and we sample on a panel before committing to the project.
Considering a colour change?
We will spend thirty minutes walking you through the realities — including what we recommend not changing.
